Occasionally, patients in the hospital have a need for a longer acute care stay due to their illness, multiple injuries, trauma, or medical complications. The unique medical needs of these types of patients require more intensive, focused hospital care for optimal recovery. Select Specialty Hospitals are designed specifically to meet the needs of these types of extended acute care patients.

We deliver a multi-disciplinary approach to individualized medical care for each patient. Our core programs provide comprehensive and focused medical management for patients requiring diverse medical services and treatments which may include intense cardiac monitoring, pulmonary and life-support management, vent weaning, hemo and peritoneal dialysis, aggressive wound care, infectious disease management, post catastrophic trauma medical management and other medically complex interventions.

Each patient is also assigned a case manager who will guide their case from admission through discharge. The case manager is available to answer questions, assist with insurance and to plan a safe, timely and appropriate discharge. Select Specialty Hospitals are Medicare certified and accredited by the Joint Commission. We participate with most major health insurers.

We are located on the ground and first floor(s) of Good Shepherd Medical Center, which allows us seamless transition of patients.

Our Admissions Coordinator will process your referrals to Select Specialty Hospital - Longview quickly and efficiently. An on-site evaluation of the patient will be completed by a Clinical Liaison within hours of the referral. The Clinical Liaison is your personal contact to Select Specialty Hospital. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the services we provide. Once an admission decision has been determined, the patient can often transfer the same day.

Select Specailty Hospital - Longview supports GOLD RUSH! For the past 24 years, Good Shepherd Foundation has hosted Longview's premiere fundraising event, GOLD RUSH. Proceeds from the event have benefited such areas as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, Heart Center, critical care areas, and the Good Shepherd Medical Center Champion EMS ambulance service. As a participant in this past year's event, Select Specialty Hospital - Longview is able to make a positive contribution to our healthcare community and actively supports the growth of the community's healthcare expertise.
