Pulmonary/Vent: Specialized care for patients with acute or chronic respiratory disorders who may have tracheotomies, ventilators or require extensive respiratory treatments to maintain normal breathing without mechanical support. We can treat, but are not limited to, the following:

Medically Complex: Designed for patients who require diverse medical services. Programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of patients with catastrophic illnesses that require focused nursing care and therapy. We can treat, but are not limited to the following:

Interdisciplinary Team Meetings are held regularly to review the patient's progress and to set new goals. Discharge is arranged when the acute medical needs of the patient have been met and he or she is ready for the next level of care or to return home.

Each patient is also assigned a case manager who will guide their case from admission through discharge. The case manager is available to answer questions, assist with insurance and to plan a safe, timely and appropriate discharge. Select Specialty Hospitals are Medicare certified and accredited by the Joint Commission. We participate with most major health insurers.

Our Admissions Coordinator will process your referrals to Select Specialty Hospital - Akron quickly and efficiently. An on-site evaluation of the patient will be completed by a Clinical Liaison within hours of the referral. The Clinical Liaison is your personal contact to Select Specialty Hospital. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the services we provide. Once an admission decision has been determined, the patient can often transfer the same day.
